W520 - can't see boot options when docked
W520 - can't see boot options when docked
Running a new W520 with truecrypt installed on the machine.
With the laptop open I can see when I need to input my truecrypt password and all is fine.
But when docked (laptop lid shut) and using two external monitors I can't see this.. I have to input it blind. Once windows loads I can use the two external screens just fine.
I never had this issue on my W510.
Anyone know what I can do to fix this? Thanks

I guess you never used truecrypt before?
Anyways the issue is trying to see TrueCrypt Boot Loader menu. Not a Windows issue.
thanks

Um, BIOS setting, "Boot Display Device" = "Both"?

Re: W520 - can't see boot options when docked
If I go to config - Display - Boot Display device I only get one option: Thinkpad LCD. No others to select from.
This is with the Graphics Device - NVIDIA Optimus selected.

Do you have switchable graphics? A google search on the matter reveals that in some T6# machines discrete graphics must be explicitly enabled and switchable graphics disabled to have the "DVI" option appear under Boot Display Devices. Try playing with graphics-related settings in your BIOS.

Enabled and rebooted. My W500 is this way as well. Also - it only puts BIOS info on the external screen in discrete mode - not switchable mode.
