Finding out if a system has a LED screen?

#1 Post by jeppe » Sat Mar 31, 2012 8:41 am

Is it in any way possible to find out if a T400 has a LED screen? I can´t seem to find a way to do that for European sold T400´s.

I need to find a second hand T400 with LED screen, but when I searched I can´t seem to find any available reference material to look up European sold systems.

Is this system LED or not, I can´t find out. Type: 2768-WJ2 Serial: R8-CCBH2

Thanks,
Jesper

There are no LED notebook displays. T400 have outdated TN panel lcd technology with LED backlight. The backlight type (LED vs CCFL) has almost zero impact on notebook screen quality. It is just buzzword.

LED backlight screens are much brighter and the whites are much whiter. You can look up the parts in your machine here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... ookup.page

I mis-phrased my question, I did mean LED back light. I need a LED back light T400 to be able to retrofit a High Nit display into. Comparing the CCFL 200 nit with my 680 nit LED back light display isn´t much of a comparison. I would love to be able to buy a new Thinkpad with such a display again, but there´s nothing that comes close today for outdoor use. The only semi-usable outdoor thinkpad displays today are the ones in the X220 and X220T.

richk: The machine I mentioned in my first post didn´t show the configuration in the parts lookup and neither do my own T400 with a High Nit display. My T400 is a US purchased CTO T400 and the one I referenced earlier is a Swedish sold T400 which also shows as CTO when I do a warranty look up search. As I need a T400 with LED back light to retrofit a High Nit display, is there any way to be certain that I buy the correct computer short of open it up?
