Hi
I have a T43 (15"). For couple of months now it has a very faint pink hue throughout the LCD. After LCD powers up or when increasing the brightness for 3-4 sec, the faint pink hue disappears. I thought this is a problem with a dying LCD bulb or a weak inverter and was in the process of ordering parts for this.
An odd thing happened....I opend up the LCD and repositioned the inverter and put the LCD back. When I powered up the laptop, the LCD is pretty much dark (but there seems to be some very very faint brightness indicating power). When I redirected to an external monitor, the whole screen of the external LCD monitor has a strong pink hue.
And this only works when booting in safe mode?! It would not redirect to external LCD under normal boot.
Any idea what component was damaged? Or should I do a reinstall of the OS?
I thought the damaged components are within the LCD assembly. I am not sure why there is a strong pink cue to an external LCD? What else is damaged?

Re: T43 Pink Hue to External LCD monitor
What do you mean with: "redirected to another monitor"?
Is that hooking up a 2nd monitor to the VGA port, or is that something else?
What do you mean with: "I opend up the LCD and repositioned the inverter and put the LCD back"?
Is that removing the LCD bezel, or is that something else?
Please be precise when you supply us with info.
If the external monitor shows 'pink', it means that either the graphics chip on the mobo is damaged, or the external monitor also has a bad CCFL. Try it on another PC/laptop.

Yeah. An external monitor hooked up to the VGA port.
Looks like the graphic chip is damaged. I changed the heatsink recently and probably messed it up somehow. The external monitor through the VGA port is fine.
Darn, I thought this is a LCD bulb issue.
