A22P no power on
A22P no power on
My old A22p was working like a trooper one day, and the next.....nothing. When I push the power button it makes a subtle click sound that sounds like it comes from the floppy and the can symbol with the two directional arrow lights up for a split second and thats it....nothing else.
I've tried blowing it out, resetting the ram and battery etc but nothing. Its always been well taken care of so really no dirt/dust issues.
What could be wrong with her?

Sounds like BOD (Blink Of Death) to me, and A22p units are prone to it - extremely.
That fine classic ThinkPad has given you years of great service, judging by your other posts.
Time for a burial with honours, I'm sorry to say. Unless you're up for swapping the board.
Good luck.

Re: A22P no power on
Yeah its old..but I really like this series for some reason....I used it with puppy linux. It seemed to like Puppy but nothing else. So BOD gives no other warnings? It was fine the day before than when I went to turn it on the next...BOD. Dang...

Check in the T2x forum for BOD on T20/T21 machines
There is apparently a simple fix which may also apply to your machine from the same era.

Re: A22P no power on
Hate to bring this old thread back up but after the a22p died I put it under my stairs till I could deal with it later and just the other day I dragged it out to remove the HD and ram etc. I hit the power button and it came on....booted up like nothing ever happened.....Been using for over a week just like nothing ever happened....WTH?

Re: A22P no power on
Yup, that seems to happen now and then....even with much newer ThinkPads. Evidently latent capacitance messes with the power circuits, and letting them sit for a while, or removing the battery and AC then pressing the power button several times often drains that charge and allows then to power up again. I've had it happen that way with me a time or two.
