T61p died

#1 Post by sktn77a » Fri Apr 13, 2012 1:18 pm

Well, my 14" 4:3 T61p gave up the ghost yet again (won't boot). It's on its 3rd motherboard since Octobe 2011 and I'm beginning to think it's not worth the effort any more. Does anyone know if the 420/520 series will fit my T61p port replicator/docking station and are the power cords the same?

Thanks,
Keith

Oh, bugger, wouldn't you know it! I'm reminded of the phone company exchange between Joe Pesci and Chris Rock on Lethal Weapon 4!

Interesting development. The problem appeared to be a charging issue (charging circuit on the mobo or the charging jack). Wiggling the jack has brought the computer back to life and it has worked now for the last week. Haven't been able to get to not work so I don't think sending it in will do any good, but the warranty runs out in July.................

Any ideas?

Send it in and describe the problem just as you described it to us.

At the very least they could resolder that power jack for you.

Just a thought.
