How do I determine keynoard type pre-sale?

#1 Post by kaplanfx » Sun Apr 17, 2005 2:23 pm

I've been reading these forums for a week now, and I am a soon to be T42 owner (hopefully the 2373-M3U or 2373-M1U) and I was wondering if there is a way to figure out before purchase which keyboard it will have. From what I have read most prefer the Thai? keyboard over the Chinese keyboard, and if its not going to cost me anything additional I would like to try and get the prefered keyboard on the first try.

Thanks,

There's no way to know until your order ships. Then, you can go to your order status page, get your serial number, and plug it into IBM's Parts Lookup page to see which keyboard you got.

You're saying it is not possible to choose keyboard ? I thought when you buy it from IBM.com you always get EN and when you buy it from national resellers you will get nationalized keyboard.

Maybe you're referring to international, order keyboard version for various countries/languages. I'm talking about the three versions of the Thinkpad US keyboards.

Nah I wanted a US keyboard, I heard that the "Thai" keyboard had better tactile feedback than the "Chinese" keyboard so I was hoping I could get that one.

He wants the keyboard that is manufactured in "Thailand" as opposed to the keyboard made in "China".

How can I find the IBM "Parts look up page" to find where the componets on my T42 came from?
