A31 new BIOS giving me Blue Screen error, please help

#1 Post by stingbandel » Sun Apr 17, 2005 8:12 pm

I just downloaded the BIOS. However, when trying to install it, I always get the Blue Screen Error.

It says IRQ not equal something like that.

Can someone help me out? I have never had problem like this before upgrading the BIOS.

edit: this is the BIOS I try, the version is 1.12 one.

thank you,

Darno

One thing you might try is:

Boot up again and press F1 to enter BIOS and then F9 to reset the BIOS to defaults - then F10 to save and exit.

I did that, still no luck. I have sytle xp installed, after uninstall it, I lost the Blue screen but it still doesn't want to go to the BIOS update,

finally I got it to work by using the floppy disk.

It's now updated already.

thanks

Anyone else had any problem with this BIOS and Windows XP?

(I haven't upgraded myself yet...)

stingbandel: did you upgrade your Embedded controller before upgrading the BIOS?

Hearing of BIOS upgrade issues sends chills up and down spine. I run BIOS ver 1.05 and am thinking of upgrading to accomodate other improvements. In these discussions I've read a few times about other upgrades (embedded controller, etc.) needed before flashing the BIOS.

Can someone direct me for instructions on what needs upgraded before BIOS? Where would I find out about upgrading embedded controller? Any others?

Many thanks,
Jeff

Hello Jeff W,

just go to IBM's thinkpads driver downloads site. There You 'll find the latest Bioses (N- and G-type for the 2653, take care to load the right one) and You'll find to the "embedded controller"-updates (for the N- and G-type-Bioses) in the same category (BIOS), too.

Go and look for it, they are all dated. For the latest Bioses it should be Version the version of December 2004.
