Do all X220 models have IPS screens?

#1 Post by Jason404 » Thu Apr 19, 2012 3:27 am

Do all X220 models have IPS screens?

Do the X220i models have IPS screens?

I'm probably going to go for a Core i5 one, but I want to make sure I do not end up with one without an IPS screen.

Cheers.

No, and no. You have to specifically select it if configuring a custom machine from Lenovo's site, and if buying a preconfigured model, you have to make sure to take one that has it (consult the tabook).

Ah okay, thanks.

That would explain why the X220 I saw on the train the other day did not have a particularly good looking screen.

I fear I am going to end up paying an extra couple of hundred quid for an IPS screen.

I don't know about the UK, but the IPS upgrade is relatively cheap.

Help please, which of these screens offered by lenovo USA on the x220T is the ips? if any, I am getting conflicting advice. Why can't manufacturers call an IPS screen an IPS screen instead of vague terms like 'premium color', dreamcolor' ????

As far as I understand it, they are all IPS screens on the tablet versions, but only the Multitouch ones have touch and stylus.

The HD Outdoor ones have stylus only input (no touch), brighter screens for outdoor use, and gorilla glass.

I'd get the Multitouch if you want to use it with Windows 8's Metro interface.

But you better get this confirmed by someone who knows for sure before you order, as I don't want to be responsible for you getting the wrong screen.

I'm over on NBR, yes ALL X220 tablet versions are IPS, ALL of them, x220i tablet, x220 tablet. Only normal X220/X220i/X230 offer IPS as an OPTION.

Ok thanks for quelling my fears everyone. Re multi touch vs outdoor gorilla glass: is there a guide as to which you should choose? Are they both matte screens? Gorilla glass is just stronger right or is it the easier to see outdoors?
