Battery Malfunctioning - Very Strange

#1 Post by 390E77 » Sun Apr 17, 2005 11:42 pm

Hi. I have a Thinkpad 390E and i have just bought a new battery. When i slide it into the laptop the orange indicator lights up and the tray icon indicats that it is charging. However, after a few seconds the orange light shuts off but the tray icon still tells me the battery is charging. It has been on 2% (charging) for many hours now. Can anyone help me?

Thanks,

It looks like you bought a bad battery. I had a spoiled battery that couldn't reached 100% even if i charged it whole day.

but i dont think so cause its the second one the seller sent me....so it must be good. I left mine charging for at least 48hours and nothing happened. Other people told me my charging circuit is not working well. so i ordered a new battery board and hopefully that'll work. Thanks! any other help is welcome!

Is the replacement battery a Li-Ion or Ni-MH? I've had similar troubles with a Ni-MH chemistry battery on my 760 where Li-Ion worked fine.

No they are both Li ion batteries. This is very weird. For now i have a bigger problem. I took my laptop appart to replace the batter board, but when i reassembled it it no longer works. It just wont start. The power indicator lights up but the actual laptop does not start, the LCD does not even light up. This is very annoying and i-ve tried everything to fix it bt nothing works. Thanks for your help tho.
