I often use the world wide web to look for videos that cover topics for classes I am in. It is very helpful and there are more pros than cons for sure! I have a couple of sites I go to and get an explanation that I can pause, rewind, or replay to my hearts content. I have a favorite who I am sure many of you may have heard of. His name is Sal (with Khanacademy) who is known from his online site that offers streaming and downloadable educational videos for free.

So I was watching a video for a refresher in Ochem (finals are next week) and out of curiosity I clicked on one of the interviews that Sal had done for PBS. I often wondered what type of program Sal was using as the black background and his colorful palette of pen colors make his presentation simple and engaging. He was showing the interviewer some things and a shot of him at his laptop aroused my super keen sense as the shot changed to show a front view of his laptop.

He has a ThinkPad.

I just smiled and thought to myself, "I knew it!"

It looks like a Z6x series laptop. The interview was from two years ago and I'm awfully tempted to write him a letter out of curiosity and ask him what sort of laptop he is using currently. Oh what a wonderful online professor the man is and with the acumen for ThinkPads?! More kudos to the man

Thanks for telling us this. I'm always looking out for stuff like this. I just love to go out and find other ThinkPad users, whether in the real world, on TV, or online - just where ever (but I think even more now that I'm officially a Lenovo Advocate).

I heard about the Khan Academy, but I have yet to check their stuff out (I heard their stuff is really good).

I love when I see people use thinkpads in movies and the like. I remember seeing pepper potts in Iron Man (2008) using an X61 and a ton of T410s in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ( i think)

I posted a year or so ago about my vet using a T42 for her portable x-ray equipment when she came to our barn to check out a problem with my horse. (Very sad outcome with my horse, so won't go there...)

So I purchased a new horse a few weeks ago pending a positive vet-check. After completing a physical exam at the barn, my vet pulled out her trusty T42 to set up her x-ray equipment -- after placing the horses hoof on an x-ray plate, the T42 audio says if the foot is in the right position on the plate; allows the x-ray to be taken; and then displays the x-ray results.

As this was much better circumstances than before, I commented on her ThinkPad setup and she answered she has over $100,000 invested in her x-ray equipment. The cheapest component of her setup was her T42 -- purchased when new, and still running her $100,000 setup -- how cool is that

We service (and have supplied) T40 series Thinkpads belonging to a well known Pyrotechnics company who supplies the flashes and bangs for all the top entertainment shows and events, and they find these Thinkpads do all they want and are as tough as old boots!
Their philosophy is that if it aint broke (and we can keep them working!) then why change? It's good they're not too fussed about the state of the plastics which tend to be cracked and battered.

Also my optician uses a 600e for his iris testing software. OK it's linked to a big flat screen but even so..... Apparently he'll only give it up when we're no longer able to repair it - fortunately it's so far so good!!
