I often have a monitor hooked up to the VGA port on my T400 (Win7), and occasionally I'll close the lid while watching a movie or something (of course set to stay awake, "do nothing", upon lid close in the power options). I have the external monitor "extended" and the laptop's screen as "primary". When I close the lid, the external monitor automatically becomes the primary screen, as expected. The problem I have (usually) is that when I reopen the lid, the external monitor not only remains as the primary screen, something I wish it wouldn't, but worse, the laptop's screen remains off. Strangely, when I open it, the laptop screen flickers momentarily as if attempting to reassert itself as primary screen, and then goes black. And then sometimes, albeit rarely, I'll reopen the lid and the screens revert to a mirrored configuration.
I've saved a profile in the Catalyst Control Center that I can activate from the tray icon's context menu to reset the screens, but I have do this often enough that I would much prefer it to automatically reconfigure. After unsuccessfully looking for a setting in the CCC options, I thought I'd ask if anyone knows a way to set an absolute configuration based on certain criteria, e.g. which monitors are present. Considering this is something that really should be possible to configure, I'm frustrated that I can't find an option in the CCC or anywhere else. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
