I have been looking for this post too.
It was the best post I have found anywhere and there were a lot of things in it I want to revisit.
The link I had was http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=7436 but the link doesn't work for me any longer. Searching did not help me and I cannot recall who the author was.

Hi,

Dead Pixel is quite simple. Make Powerpoint presentation with various background Colours eg. black, white, red, green, blue, etc without any design...just plain. If you dont have office, install free powerpoint viewer from MS. Run, you can easily identify.

Good luck for not having one though.
