Just ordered my T43...

#1 Post by cwestwater » Tue Apr 19, 2005 7:05 am

and it should be here tomorrow! It's a UC371UK - a very nice machine. I am so glad the corporation I work for switched to ThinkPads - I've had my current, well old now, T22 for the last 3 and a half years and it run basically every day all day and night with old 1 busted screen which happend in an overhead bin on a flght.

Can't wait for tomorrow now!!

Great spec! Should last at least as long as your T22 did!

Yep - IBM are doing a deal - £230. I have Technet Plus so get time unlimited software so going to install Win 2003 Server on it and set up a test network. Eventually will have a Linux distro on it.

Mainly going to use it for central storage of all the movies, MP3's pictures, etc that are on the 4 laptops at home!

knew things would not go well!!!

I ordered 2 of the laptops - one for me and one for the other IT guy in the office. Only 1 arrived and he got it!! When I called the supplier he said IBM are doing a global stock take just now, so items are slow getting put through to dealers.

Then IBM contacted the dealer (Insight UK) and they advised him to ask me if I was willing to wait 10-15 working days for it, and once agreed I wanted it non returnable. Strange... It's a standard model - I don't want anything 'extra' on it...

Oh and the one that arrived - man is it sweet. The guy who uses it does Crystal report writing. On his old T22 a particular report used to take 20 minutes to run - on the T43 - 3 minutes 40 seconds

I am sorry that you got delayed in getting your notebook.
I hope that you truly enjoy it when you do get it.
Cheers!

I am still waiting for my T43. My account manager was saying he was 80 TP's on back order but none are arriving due to the Lenovo switchover.

Best estimate he can give me now is 22 May - but that is very sketchy.
