X301 Cannot change Wireless Power settings

A problem recently encountered is that of trying to change wireless power settings, specifically Wireless WAN settings.

I seem to have a constant Wireless WAN image illuminated. Within the "change power settings screen " ( Fn 5) i see that the Wireless WAN is actually flagged as "off" and when it seems to be actually On and I cannot toggle the state.
I can toggle the state of the Wireless Lan radio however.

If I switch off the radios ( slide switch at rear), then switch radios on again, I find I can toggle the Wireless Wan state from the Fn5 screen... for a while only.

Anyone encountered this issue ?
