T41 - Continuous left click.
T41 - Continuous left click.
Just received a laptop to repair. It's left clicking literally every second. It happens even before windows loads, so I'm assuming it's hardware related in some way. Also the keyboard doesn't want to work once windows loads, but works fine in BIOS and what not. Unsure if that's related. I tried removing and cleaning the left click buttons but it did nothing. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: T41 - Continuous left click.
Try disabling the touchpad in the BIOS or even unplugging it physically.

Re: T41 - Continuous left click.
Touchpad was already disabled actually. I'm thinking it's something with the left click on the keyboard but I'm not entirely sure.

Re: T41 - Continuous left click.
Welcome to the Forums!
I'd be looking at the left button on the touchpad even though it's been disabled in software.
The left button often packs up due to dirt etc under the button and general wear and tear, and I'd suggest removing the touchpad connector and see what then happens.
You'll need to remove the 4 keyboard screws from under the base and lift out the kbrd.
The touchpad conn is the rectangular one under the kbrd.
If you find it's then OK, it's worth stripping the touchpad down and cleaning under the button plastics. For how to do it go to my sig, download the How To Documents leaflet, and from there select the Touchpad Components doc.
You may also find the screws one useful for T4x stripping / reassembly.

Re: T41 - Continuous left click.
I'll give that a try tonight or tomorrow. Was hoping to not take it apart but it's seeming the only way.
