Nothing to see here.

Wasn't expecting anything, but for all the forced-change (6-row, chiclets, touchpads, weight-gain, latchlessness), I would at least expected to see some resolution (ahem) to the pathetic "HD" screen standard.

Edit: Apparently, thankfully. I stand corrected. Amazing that NoteBookReview and Engadget still doesn't consider pixel-count as relevant in "full specifications" -or- their multipage review.

Time is blind and the man is stupid. Time has showed the value of ThinkPad and man just ruined it. So sad to see they have turned last interesting computer on the market into same uninteresting budget crap like the rest. So now it's time to find another interest, maybe should start brewing beer? Or maybe start growing something :/

I pay my respect to The ThinkPad, that has been a trustworthy companion for decades of computing. It was fun while it lasted.

personally i am keen to see the PRODUCTION VERSION of T430s
since I have been using T410s and than T420s (fully decked out)

for once I would like to see HDMI ports (but then I know Thinkoad product manager is too cheapto go for them) ,,,,but waiting to try these:

*Ivy Bridge CPUs
*Thunderbolt!
*HD and HD+ display configurations
*New rapid charge option charges your battery to 80% in just half an hour
*Backlit keyboard options (really, this needs to be standard, Lenovo)
*DisplayPort with audio (HDMI for real - but like DP with some software patch job)
*720p webcam with face tracking
*** REAL MIL STD CERTIFIED (not jut say its MIL SPEC tested!!! )

There always been lots of talk of TP dying , i personally think its way to early for that - maybe "diluted to s***t" is more like it!!!

This is sad. Having used Thinkpads from the 700t to the X201 I had never felt like I had made a bad choice getting a Thinkpad. Then my office handed me an Edge to use while working off-site last year, I told myself it was just going to be on the budget models.

Not sure what I am going to do when I need to replace my X201 but I will say, it won't be one of these new blasphemous piles of dreck.

I am looking at photos of the upcoming Thinkpads. While it's disappointing that most models still look gross (especially the unused space flanking the keyboard), I think they are slowly looking nicer with each new generation. I abandoned the Thinkpads for other brands mainly because I couldn't stand the looks of widescreen Thinkpads, but if Lenovo continues to improve their looks, I can visualize myself returning to the brand a few years down the road, especially if they can come up with a 12.5" 1600x900 Thinkpad that is lighter than my Latitude E4200 (2.23 lbs) and that's under $800. I actually don't mind the switch to island keyboards. As long as the keys are curved, they should still be comfortable to type on, and 6- versus 7-row doesn't impact me much. I do think the island keyboard makes the X230 look much better than the X220. And since the X230's keyboard bezel is quite thin, it's the prettiest among the new Thinkpads.

Since the IBM keyboard is gone I'm now willing to consider foregoing trackpoint for a good screen. This narrows my choice to IPS laptops and good TN screens, where Thinkpads apart from 200 series and W500 series (not really portable for daily carry) were not particularly strong.

I love the feel of Thinkpad keyboards. The dream machine would have a Thin.. SLATE like configuration, Size of 13", Retina High Res Anti glare.. and a separate SLIM USB / Bluetooth "Thinkpad" Keyboard with Trackpoint and Touchpad both for use when extensive typing is to be done.

A true separable convertible.
