Windows 8 & ThinkPad T43
Windows 8 & ThinkPad T43
Somebody already tested pre-released Windows 8 on T43/T43p? Could you share your experience?
Is it worth to upgrade from Windows 7? Thanks.

Tried it on a T43 while it still was Developer's Preview.
Everything worked with some tweaking, but I was quite underwhelmed.
W8 only makes sense on a tablet IMO. At least for now...

Re: Windows 8 & ThinkPad T43
Whilst i can't comment on Win 8 on a T43, i did give it a spin on my T61...
I find Win 7 to be FAR more useable with a mouse/touchpad than Win 8. Like George says, it really is only worth it on a tablet - you'll be far more productive on a Win 7 T43 i'd think.
But then again, if you have a spare hard drive/full backup, give it a spin and come to your own conclusions, while it's free!

I tried it on an X200, and even then the interface was horrible with a pen. I think it's only going to be worthwhile with a capacitive touchscreen, if then.

Re: Windows 8 & ThinkPad T43
Hi
I have installed Win 8 on T 43. When I had installed it, device Manager showed that the relevant Lenovo drivers were not installed. About 10 minuttes later, all drivers were installed. he speed has increased considerably compared with Win XP and Win 7. I am going to install Win 8 on all my ThinkPads.
The points I am critical in Win 8 are the lacking "Start", that u too easily jump between the pc version and tiles version of Win 8. I would preferred that I as a user should decide when I would be in the pc version and when i would be in the tiles version. And the pc seem to all the time to keep contact with Microsoft. I wonder what kind of data are transferred to Microsoft.Sooner or later I think one should that data communication should be logged in a readable format so we can see what kind of data Microsoft is collecting.

If you really miss the way things used to be with Windows 7, you can install the $5 Start8:

There are also free alternatives:
