First contact of T43p

#1 Post by cchsiao » Tue Apr 19, 2005 5:20 pm

Finally I got my friend's T43p model 2668G1U. Since I have to install the software for my friend, I have a little time to play around with this newest model of thinkpad.

The first difference difference I noticed is about the fan noise. When you turn on T42/T42p, the fan will only run (noisily) at the time when BIOS test is passed. However, T43p's fan will run through the process of launch Windows. I think this is definitely because Pentium-M 770 is a little bit hotter than one used on a T42. The temperature is also higher than T42's temp.

About the build of T43p, I didn't noticed big difference. The palmrest is still soft and might produce a little bit sound if you press on it. The gap on the ultrabay slim port is still quite large and seems no improvement at all.

Since it's my friend's laptop, I don't have time to do any speed test. I would say the laptop is about the same fast as a T42p.

The T43 runs much noiser (fan) and quite a bit hotter than the T42. I unfortunatly had to send the T43 back because I found the fan noise too annoying. Looks like I will be keeping the T42 for some time to come.
