Hi,
We are running Lenovo T410s Win7 Enterprise 64bit laptops where I work, and a high number of users experience that when they have used the laptop outside the docking station, they get a black or dark screen with only the mouse pointer visible when docking the laptop again. The cursor is active, and keyboard/mouse is active, although withouth seeing much on the screen.
What follows after docking is one of two scenarios:
1. the screen is black even if they put the machine into hibernation and wake it up (usually ends with no other option than to turn if off and on with the docking power button.
2. the screen shows the Windows background faded, but you are still able to log in, right click the Desktop background and alter the settings for the screen: we have to open the NVIDIA control panel and check the box for using NVIDIA settings. Windows has been set to control the display settings. I have not found any way to force the system to set NVIDIA settings as default for all eternity. Is this because of the use of certain programs that overrun the NVIDIA settings outside the docking? We have no special systems requiring any altering of settings. We are using IE8 as default browser.
Our T410s are running NVIDIA NVS 3100M.
Is there a conflict between the Windows settings and NVIDIA's own settings here? Anyone else experiencing the same/similar issues?
Regards,
untz
