changing machine type serial number

my old mobo got fried and i have purchased a new one but this has a different machine type serial number so system update gives me different set of software updates for it.

how can i change the machine type serial number of the board?

The maintenance disk that is needed for that operation is not for general distribution. It is for dealers and authorized service centers only.
