CPU not recognised
Hi everybody
I have recently re-installed Win XP on my Thinkpad A22p. The Sys propreties panel shows that I have a Intel PIII with 697 MHz. but I do have a Intel Pentium IIIE, 1000 MH (I checked with Everest). Do I need the right driver for my cpu? where I can find it?
Regards

Re: CPU not recognised
Windows is showing you the current speed of the CPU, which is regulated by SpeedStep. Open 25 tabs and watch it shoot up to 999Mhz...

What does BIOS show? That's really all I care about on old machines...
Secondly, how's your battery?

You'll never get full speed on a ThinkPad with a dead battery.
Remove it so it doesn't blow the charging circuit, run the machine on AC only.

Re: CPU not recognised
Done that, does not work.
I also run a BIOS diagnostic but does not change the value of the CPU.
No proble I just drop it.

Re: CPU not recognised
I think we have a misunderstanding here...
You need a *working* battery for the CPU to run at full speed.
My suggestion for battery removal was along the lines of saving the charging circuit from damage, not for getting the machine to run at its max - for that you need a battery.
