Hoi,

I have almost the same phenomena as descpribed by styleza
I have 3x fullHD monitors, 2 of them is connected with DVI to the dock and one with VGA to dock.
Windows screen settings allows me to enable 3 monitos, but the 3rd wont "wake up" and after reopenin windows screen manager it says that 3rd monitor is "disconnected". Intel's own tool only gives option for 2 monitors.
But I have only two external montiors connected via DVI and DP to the ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 (4337) . How to I get the internal display to run?

I'm not an expert, as I have some issues with the displays on my Thinkpad X230 (but I'm running it on linux without a dock so that's entirely different issue) Anyway, from researching this I think one crucial factor is that the 2 external displays have to be connected to a display port out put in some way.

In the best case scenario the graphics hardware (by this I mean the intel graphics hardware that's standard) on these computers is only capable of outputting to 3 displays if 2 of them are receiving the signal from a display port source. Even then it's not entirely clear whether or not the hardware in the computer and/or dock complies with the display port requirements necessary for this to be realized.

Natively, it can drive 3 external displays if all of them connects to displayports (so you need the dock with two displayport).
Current ThinkPad: T430u, T430s, X1 Carbon, X1, X230t, X220t, X230, X220, X201t, W520, W701ds, T500, T420 and many more
