Glitchy video output at 1920*1080

#1 Post by james2008 » Sat Jun 02, 2012 12:29 am

Just bought a new monitor for my T60. At 1920*1080, 60 Hz (only supported refresh rate), I get lots of glitches. I don't know if the problem is with the monitor or the display drivers.

Some of the glitches include: extreme mouse trails when moving cursor over dark background; strange glitches on minimize/restore/close buttons when moving a window; discoloration of previously highlighted menu item when moving cursor over menus (especially bad in start menu).

The monitor is an Asus VW246H; the video card is an ATI Mobility Radeon X1300. The video card drivers are the second most recent version, and the Lenovo fix in the latest version is not worth the trouble of updating. I'm running Windows XP Pro.

Any thoughts on what may be causing this problem?

I guess that explains the problem then, thanks. But I had a smaller widescreen (19"; can't remember the resolution) that ran without these kinds of glitches. And the ATI drivers and the Windows display settings page also display 1920*1080 as a selectable resolution, which I thought meant that it was supported by the monitor and video card.

Is there anything I can try to make the 1920*1080 widescreen resolution work better? It didn't seem to be as glitchy in Knoppix as it is in Win XP.
