W520 BIOS 1.37

#1 Post by WA2SI » Tue Jun 05, 2012 1:36 pm

Read on the Lenovo forum that the new W520 BIOS "update," 1.37, fixes a few bugs but also caps the RAM speed at 1333 MHz... Even if you already have 1600 MHz RAM installed and working. Think I'll skip this update, folks. The Kingston Hyper-X has been running at approx. 1600 MHz with nary a problem to report to date.

YIPS.............
FULLY AGREE !!
(seems weird that lenovo would ADD CAP to within the BIOS)
i can see why - however tech'ly i dont see why they would make their machines want to RUN @ SLOWER BUS speeds - sicne I have been running ( like lots of other pple ) at the higher speeds and there are NO HEAT and or OTHER MAJOR DETER'TAL issues cropped up yet!!)
VERY STRANGE !
(fyi - am running 32GB 1600 rams for nearly a year now no issues but I hardly use this machine on BATTERY ONLY ...)
Cheers
