FS: T23 in UK. SXGA+/1GB/Internal WiFi/1.13GHz/40GB HD...

#1 Post by lilserenity » Thu Apr 21, 2005 7:34 am

Hello,

Time for me to come clean, I'm selling my T23 :( As I bought a Dell Latitude D600 and yes you might scorn at me and spit and whatever else (spitting is such a disgusting habit) ;)

But i am putting it up here before it goes on eBay. I am in the UK and would consider shipping to Europe or the USA but beware, this is about a 10lb package and that is heavy!!

It is as follows:

- T23 2647-9KU out of warranty since Nov 04
- 1GB RAM
- 1.13GHz PIIIm Processor
- SXGA+ 1400x1050 screen!!
- Brand new 40gb 5400RPM Hard Disk (Hitachi Travelstar)
- DVD-ROM Internal : region free
- 1.44MB Floppy Drive Internal
- Brand new (40 cycles) main battery
- Brand new UltraBay 2000 battery (20 cycles or so)
- Windows 2000 COA + authentic recovery CDs
- Internal 802.11b wireless retro-fitted
- 10/100 Ethernet Rj45
- 56K Modem
- USB 1.1 x 2, parallel, serial, crt out, power, svhs/tv out, ps/2, pc-card x 2, audio jacks.
- carry case (quality Targus one)
- USB 2.0 PCMCIA card w/power dongle
- USB 2.0 CDRW Drive Iomega : 48x40x16
- Docking Station
- Ethernet cable
- AC Adapter
- UK Keyboard

In excellent condition, bar a fracture to the palmrest on the left of the keyboard between there and the pc-card slots, common fault, as the palmrest is a mere 1/10" thick.

Also a small chip on the back of the machine but nothing structurally significant.

Overall in mint condition, a true road warrior machine that I will miss. My main reason for sale was due to needing the ATI Radeon 9000 32MB for Photoshop, the T23 is great but I am hardcore user and so I notice these things.

One of the very best thinkpads ever made, looked after by a very careful owner and sad to see her go.

Please ask me for photos of the actual unit and with offers.

Also ask around, I'm known around here and know a thing or two about ThinkPads.

Vicky x
(ps: I'm not completely leaving the fold, I will always have a ThinkPad somewhere, and will continue to help here until I can afford a t43p ;))

Bit off-topic Vicky, but do you still have that nice coloured 560Z you used to run? I'd love to get my hands on that!

Stavros

PS For prospective buyers, Vicky is an old end very active (at least some time ago) member of the forums, I gladly recommend her.

Awww thanks Stavros :)

As for the 560X :) it was sold for a nice sum last year. You know I can always be comissioned to do such a thing again, as I know what I am doing. (Says she who fits heatsinks with teaspoons! But it works!)

I am active in fits and starts, it's a busy time with my final year of uni coming to a close (dissertation to be in etc.), looking for a job and so forth.

Plus running my websute etc.

But thanks again!!

Hey Vicky,

From a former D600 user, you might want to hold onto that T23 for a bit... My D600 very frequently got uncomfortably hot and it finally drove me to sell it and get a T42. I don't regret that for a second!

Thanks for the tip hon, but the T23 has been sold.

Also I don't find my 1.4GHz D600 getting too hot at all on the palm-rest by the hard drive as some people have commented, YMMV seems to apply here :)

I have a 60gb Hitachi 5k60 installed for the record.

Also if you want to see what I think in terms of the review and also a one month on retospective, check out my website:

There is no way now I would choose to return to the T23, it had a better keyboard but the D600's is very good too, and feels studier, just not the same key depth or feel that I do appreciate from Thinkpad keyboards.

SO I have been comfortably surprised I have to say. Maybe when I am earning some money I will have the chance to properly try out a T40 series for an extended period of time, but I have to say that whilst I like the T40 (the model I tried out, similar to the D600 spec I am now using), I still prefer the D600.

It is of course possible I got a good one as the quality may vary! ;)
