Z61m and Windows 7 Upgrade

#1 Post by phoenix_one » Tue Jun 19, 2012 5:02 pm

I just installed Windows 7 Pro on my Z61m (9450) and I and trying to gain functionality on my buttons. Specifically Volume buttons.

I installed the Keyboard Customizer Utility but for some reason I cannot see how I can assign funtion to those particular buttons.

I also am tryig to activate the Active Protection Systeem, I download the software, reboots and nothing.

Could anybody shed some light in the matter?

Thank You

Did you try the Hotkey driver?

Download the System Update from Lenovo's website and run the program...

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/researc ... VSU-UPDATE

That should take care of everything, or just about...

My wife has W7 Pro on her Z61m (9450-38U) and it runs like a champ.

HotKey Driver did the trick. Thanks!

Is it normal that the ThinkVantage button no longer works?

Before threre was an icon to indicate the status of the Active Protection System, however when looking Task Manager the Processes shows a TPshocks.exe.

Is that it? There is no other indication on the status of the program.

I am running the System Update but it looks that only works for programs already installed.

The Hotkey driver includes the system interface driver, which is why the volume buttons now work. The ThinkVantage button is probably of little use now. If you upgraded it, it might work, but a clean install would render it inoperable.

Does the Active Protection System program is working on your wife's machine?

Was able to resolve the issue.

Found the program under Coltrol Panel/System and Security.

Upgraded the Hard Drive and now it boots up in a minute! I am planning to swap the processor for a T7600 and install 4GBs of memory.

Thanks for all your help!
