Wireless protocols on T61p 6457-AM1

#1 Post by DaElderGeek » Thu Jun 21, 2012 5:52 pm

Hello All:

I just bought a T61p 6457-AM1 off Fleabay which should arrive sometime next week. I read in the specs somewhere that the wireless supports 802.11a/b/g/ with n disabled. My question is; is there a way to enable 802.11n on this device? It seems to me that there ought to be a way to enable it, otherwise, why even mention it?

No, you'll have to buy a proper wifi-N card.

Cool. It's not a big issue. It will mostly function as a desktop replacement.

Just curious, what would an "n" card cost?

Not much. But keep in mind you have to either buy a Lenovo-branded 4965 Intel card or flash Middleton BIOS to avoid the 1802 error. Stock Lenovo BIOS is whitelisted for only a few cards.
