Ultraportable recommendation
Ultraportable recommendation
I am in the market for a ultraportable notebook. Ultraportability is 85% and performance 15% in the consideration. My budget is around $700 +/- 50... If I am pushed may be up to $1000.
It does not have to be an IBM.
The maximum size I would tolerate is that of a X31. A 10.4" screen would probably be better. A P3-M 600 is fine for my purposes, which are web surfing, e-mail, some word processing, picture viewing, numerous dictionaries, e-textbooks, I will be using virtual CD so no need for ODD to carry.
Some models I have considered.
IBM X40 (can't afford it)
IBM S30 / 31 (Perfect. meets all my requirements but Impossible to find unless I go to Japan)
Sony X505 (Perfect, but don't have $2500)
Sony S7K
Any other possible ideas? How heavier and bulkier are X2x series compared to X40? I saw someone using X40 yesterday. It was so cute...

There's a good buy on an X31 in the BST forum right here.

I have an IBM X31 that I will be placing for sale sometime soon, and since I am in the Baltimore-Washington area, a sale to you might be easy. Let me know if you are interested. I know that usually these things shouldn't be posted in the regular forums, so if I am committing a wrong post, please forigive.
Anyway, other than a nicely used X31, I wouldnt know what other notebooks would be in your price range with your expectations.

Let me know when you plan to sell it. I will be more serious around end of July before starting school in middle of August.NihilDeNominibus wrote:I have an IBM X31 that I will be placing for sale sometime soon, and since I am in the Baltimore-Washington area, a sale to you might be easy.
