T61p Heatsink for T61
T61p Heatsink for T61
Hello dear community!
Well...now that i have upgraded to a T9300 and overclocked ma NVS 140m (Core@675MHz, MEM @950MHz, Shader @1,35GHz) i kinda need a better cooling system.
I have heared, that the T61p heatsink / fan is better in cooling.
What is the difference between the 2 of the T61 (discrete) and the T61p?
Also - When i look for T61p heatsinks on ebay, i always get something like a "t61 + 60 heatsink".
That makes it really hard for me to believe, that it's actually the "better" one.
Can somebody please explain me the difference and maybe give me a link where a new OEM one is being sold?
TY!!!

Re: T61p Heatsink for T61
I'd like to know the differences too, I already know that there are two models for the T60 and that one is better, but what about the T61? (I'm looking to put a T61's heatsink in my T60 to help with cooling.)

Re: T61p Heatsink for T61
There's nothing to be different in the first place.
There's only one basic type of fan for discrete graphics, be it T61 or T61p...the same principle as for T60/p...
Do bear in mind that they differ according to the screen size, though.

Re: T61p Heatsink for T61
What's the FRU of the heatsink you're complaining about? Those are two different revisions, and each has its own pros and cons...
Apologies to OP for taking his thread off-topic...

Re: T61p Heatsink for T61
I too apologize to the OP for the off-topicness of this thread. Mine has the 41V9932. Even though it is supposed to be the better one for cooling the GPU I find the GPU to running a bit hotter than it should, hence why I am looking at getting one from a T61p that will offer better cooling (as I hear.)

Re: T61p Heatsink for T61
Judging by your signature, you have a proper fan for your machine. These (41V9932) are the ones that were shipped with Core Duo units.
My understanding is that you need a fan from 15.4" T61 with discrete graphics as a replacement if you choose to go that route.

Re: T61p Heatsink for T61
Yes, I have the proper fan for the Core Duo, however the GPU temp could be far lower. I will attempt using a copper shim and thermal paste in place of the thermal pad, this should help considerably in heat transfer. I was mainly looking at using a T61's heatsink instead because it directly contacts the GPU. Also, I have a 14.1" display, however the motherboards between the two 4:3 sizes are identical so I would assume that the heatsinks are too. Thanks for your help.
EDIT: meant Core Duo, not C2D.
