#1 Post by rychuu » Tue Jul 03, 2012 12:32 pm

Hello,

I have lost my computer - was stolen and I would like to add serial and type of them to any registry.

I have bought used Lenovo computer lately and I would like to check is it legal, I have called Lenovo, but they told me that they not collect this information, what should I do?

best regards
I am using Lenovo t410 2518-4ju.

best regards

Lenovo might not tell right out whether a computer has been stolen, but as far as i know, they won't service a computer that they know to be stolen either. So you could ask them whether they would service the computer in question.

I would report it stolen to the police. I would also call Lenovo and tell them the type, model and serial number and that it has been stolen. It might just be that they are willing to make a note about it in their system. I would also ask them to contact you or the police if someone tries to have it serviced.

thank you for your reply

As I understand I should contact Lenovo and told they that I would like to repair my computer under warranty. Its good idea, but what in situation, when warranty period timed out? Only information which I will get will be that computer is not under warranty

My perception was that Lenovo will not service a computer which they know to be stolen. If it is under warranty or out of warranty shouldn't matter. And you don't need to ask them to service it, it should be sufficient to ask them whether they would be willing to service it in case a need for service should arise.
