Fastest Pentium 3 CPU for T22?

Hi all will an SL5CK Intel mobile Pentium 3 cpu work in a T22 laptop? Simple eh?

The Intel SL53S @ 1GHz is the fastest possible CPU for T22.
You also need the specific T22 CPU fan with it.

Thank You very much for that info. It's funny I bought this unit from eBay got it for $14.95 it was being sold for parts although the person said it needed a hard drive but it worked. When I got it I put a 20 gig hard drive in it and it fired right up,the funny part of this is that it was listed as a T23 but the number on the back of unit says it's a T22. Again Thanks for the info.

If your machine has 2 USB ports, it's a T23. If there is only 1 USB port, it's a T20/T21/T22 model.

Thanks for the info guys if it was aT23 it would take a slightly faster chip. I can live with a 1ghz laptop my T21 is a good unit the T22 is a little faster @900mhz,so I'll pop it up to a 1Ghz machine.

You also need to update the BIOS and ECP to the latest versions, otherwise the 1GHz CPU will not work.

Thanks I already have the most recent bios and all, now I just need to get the chip and I'm got me a 1ghz laptop for the cost and upgrades to my T21 plus $14.95 for the T22 minus what I get for the 2 T21's I have Oh yeah somehow I got an extra T21 minus everything memory, CPU, drives I mean it's gutted except the mobo is stiil there. So we have signs of life.

If BIOS sees it as 1Ghz you're OK. It's SpeedStep taking it down where it needs to be.

Also, if your battery is dead or missing altogether, the machine will not run at full speed.

OK so the bios is seeing it as 1000 Mhz. so is there any way to alter speed step or am i stuck with it?

As ajkula66 already mentioned, you also need a working battery to run at full speed!

There is a battery in it, granted it's not the best but it lasts for awhile the way I have it set,but most of the time when I use it it's on wall adapter.

May I post a cont? I am considering a 1.13Ghz from a T23 in a T21 running at 800Mhz. Will the CPU chip socket match? Will have to u/d the BIOS.
Any other factors that may prevent this?

Not trying to h/j the thread, looking for a starting pt, or an EASY stopping point.

Thank you for the correction, I didn't look close enough.

So will a SL5CL chip (1.2 Ghz T23 chip) fit a SL5CK board socket? Bad mem sockets on 1.2 mobo. I think the screen is higher rez, but have yet to find out how to confirm.
