Pink LCD screen on a T22?

#1 Post by TarzanBoy » Fri Apr 22, 2005 10:31 am

I just found out that a colleague of mine has a T22 (just like mine). Her screen is curiously pink... which suggest to me that there is something screwy with her LCD cable/connection.

Does anyone have step by step instructions on how to open up the Thinkpad to check it? Also, if it turns out that the cable is bad, where can I order a new one?

Thanks

The backlight is failing. Common problem with older machines, especially the 600 series. The good news is that it can continue to work like this for a long time and usually loses the tint after it "warms up" for a bit. The bad news is that it normally requires a backlight or LCD replacement, whichever you find easier to accomplish. Sometimes, but only rarely, it can be corrected with an inverter card replacement, cheap to buy and easy to install.
