That would mean replacing heatsink and possibly the bottom plastic. I'm about done with this thing.
I'll agree with the heatsink (not a big deal) bit but bottom plastic aka base? I don't think so...

So the Craiglist guy told you it was one FRU and then you got there and found it was another one? I don't quite get what happened there since you were supposed to get a proper board - judging by FRU # - for mere $25...

He said random FRU and I found out later that one isn't compatible.

XGA is the screen resolution 1024x768 (as is SXGA+ resolution 1400x1050)
ATI is a brand of graphics processor (as is Intel)!
I repeat:
If your machine has 14.1" XGA (regardless of ATI), I would have a fully working compatible motherboard with integrated Intel graphics for it.
PM me if interested in a price well under $100 shipped!
If you have 14.1" SXGA+, my motherboard would not work.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

First off I was informed that the R52 doesn't support 14" SXGA+.
Second off, yes, it uses XGA.
Third off, does it include the heatsink?
Finally, can you put SXGA+ in the R52 then?

First: your information is incomplete.
-- R52 with ATI supports XGA and SXGA+ in both 14.1" and 15" screen sizes, as well as UXGA in 15" .
-- R52 with Intel supports XGA in both 14.1" and 15" screen sizes, but SXGA+ only in 15" and no UXGA at all.
Second: great, my Intel motherboard would work in your machine.
Third:
-- you can use the ATI heatsink for an Intel.
-- you can NOT use the Intel heatsink for an ATI.
Fourth: see First.
