Hi,
While installing a BIOS update. the update crashed my SL400. Windows 7 hung during step 17 of 32. I waited for approx. 20 minutes and had to unplug the power and remove the battery because the power off didn't work.
I created a bootable CD with the latest BIOS via http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloa ... MIGR-70040. It didn't work. The screen is just black. I removed the hard drive and found out it is now toast.
Any ideas or is it a loss cause?

Hello and welcome to the forum
Some other people with SL series ThinkPads had similar or identical problems. Check this thread on the Lenovo forum:

Lenovo helped them, also in cases where the notebooks were out of warranty.
