Thinkpad T520 - Small spot on screen - Will Lenovo replace?

#1 Post by nosaku » Sun Jul 15, 2012 5:59 am

I just noticed a small, dust size, spot on lower corner of my T520 screen. First I thought it was just dust and cleaned it, but it seems to be permanent spot on the screen and I can feel it with my finger nail. My T520 is still under 1-yr depot warranty. Will Lenovo repair / replace the screen?

Regards,
Satish.

Unless the machine is brand new/you just got it/opened it, almost certainly no. Grunge on the outside of the display assembly will be attributed to user wear/tear. And honestly, assuming it wasn't there from the moment you bought it, do you really think it ought to be covered under a simple defect warranty?

Thanks for the reply. As far as I remember, I barely used the system. I purchased it just before 2 months but not used it much at all. I am not sure how this really happened as I have not dropped it anywhere or so. I do have a Accident Protection package on it... will I be able to use it for replacement? I just feel sad about the grunge on my new laptop worth of $1200 :(

If you can feel it with your fingernail, it's likely a very persistent speck of dust.
