R60 - type 9455 - strange beep error code
Hello everyone
few days ago I experienced following situation with my notebook (R60, type 9455). After switching on screen is blank, LED'S for power and battery were lit normally and after that there is following beep code:
on short beep - pause - three short beeps - pause - four short beeps - pause -three short beeps
And after that notebook is still powered on, LED'S for power and battery are still lit normally but screen is still blank and there is no other activity.
This code is not documented nor explained in any IBM documents i could find.
Is there explanation for this ?
Thanks.

1-3-4-3 is bad RAM module(s).
Download Memtest86+ from http://www.memtest.org/
Run it on one module only in one slot, then run it on the same module in the other slot.
Repeat with the other module.
Then run it on both, repeat with the modules swapped around.
Let each test run at least 2 full cycles.
Good luck.

Thank you for your prompt answer ! It would be very good if it is only RAM module malfunctioning.RealBlackStuff wrote:1-3-4-3 is bad RAM module(s).

I forgot to tell you:
some Thinkpad models can run with RAM only in the bottom slot, but NOT with RAM only in the upper slot.

Yes, this one works well with single RAM module in upper slot. Curiously, I moved module from bottom slot to upper slot and now it works !RealBlackStuff wrote:I forgot to tell you:

Of course, I'll perform "memtest", to be sure if module is OK but it seems that problem is related to bottom memory slot somehow.

Memtest is running for 5 hours now with no errors but I will leave it running till the end of work today. This is situation with module inserted into upper slot. However, when inserted into bottom slot it does not work at all. Obviously there is some hardware error on MBO or contact problem with slot itself. Apparently I will use it with module in slot, I don't see other solution.RealBlackStuff wrote:I forgot to tell you:

Thank you again for your help and guidance.
