I just installed a Vertex III, not the slim model, in my main desktop. It works great. I'm curious why you would not consider the mSATA SSD as it would allow you to keep the platter drive in the main bay for storage where speed is not as important. That's provided you don't need WWAN of course.

have mSata also > and E Series dont have 'ultrabay' however I have the DVD bay swapped over as to a PLATTER DRIVE
works nicely for 'extra storage' !
was juz curious if someone has had actually used the newer 'slimer SSD' into a TP...as I heard Lenovo 'might' start soon using these 'lower profile SSD as a DEFAULT SIZE and install in all their laptops (most mainland china models already started am told) ..... blah blah

I believe the crucial m4 is also 7mm and crucial m4 is also available in msata.. so you can now buy 2 256gb ssd

My T520 came with a slim platter drive, and used a new (to me) style of rubber bumper that fits a 7mm drive properly in a 9.5mm bay.
Since I switched that to an mSATA ssd, I used the bumpers on a Samsung 256GB 830 as an upgrade for my X200. Fits nicely and the connectors line up perfectly.
The T420s my mother has came with a 7mm platter drive as well, and only takes 7mm drives, so the bumpers only fit a 7mm drive. I've switched that to an mSATA drive as well, but will put a 128GB Samsung 830 in the regular bay for additional storage for her.

I can't be the only one who thinks corners on all roads should be banked so you don't need to lift.
...Right? Guys? Anybody? C'mon!

Having T500 with 9 mm bay for classical HDD and few moths ago, I bought 7mm Crucial M4. Everything worked fine so I just had to unmount the old disk from steel "side-holders" and place there SSD upsidedown....holes than fit perfectly
