Audio through docking station DVI port on T500

#1 Post by skrypj » Tue Aug 07, 2012 2:02 pm

Hello,

I know that in some instances, with "newer" GPUs(my ati x1800 did it), audio can be passed from a PC to an hdtv via the DVI output with a DVI-HDMI converter. Does anyone know if this will work on a T500 with a docking station using the descrete graphics(ATI HD3650)?

Thanks
Jay

I never heard of it being done. There is an SPDIF-out port on the docking station, though.

I have T500 and dock and I'm using the SPDIF on side. I think that DVI is primarily designed to work only with "video" and few manufacturers added audio feature, but I've seen this only on desktop graphic cards...
