T43p possible dead WLAN, Error 1802

#1 Post by Cola » Mon Aug 13, 2012 10:01 am

Hi!

As I started my T43p this morning, it wouldn't find any wireless network connections.
I can browse the internet as usual with Ethernet cable connected, but without it, and running on the original WLAN card in it, it just shows a red X over the status for connections.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.

--

I've tried opening it up, and changing the card around with my T40's working WLAN card. This just gives me Error 1802, and I get no chance to go into BIOS at all.

What to do here?

Thanks

You can't use a card from T40 in a T43/p, the latter is *very* picky on wireless cards...

Put the original card back in and try booting from a "live" Linux CD.

If the wireless works, there's a driver issue within W7.

If it doesn't you need a new card.

I'ma give it a go right away.
Will reply as soon as I've tried it.

Allright, I tested it in Ubuntu booting from my USB Flash drive. Worked perfectly there, so luckily the card isn't fried.

I'll look for a new driver for it then.

Thanks a lot! :D

To be honest I don't really know. How do I check it?

Have you tried repairing the connection with W7 network troubleshooter? Click on that (now probably crossed) connection symbol in the taskbar and try taking that route...

Hi!

I just tried it. It tells me to plug in my ethernet cable. And after I've done that, it tells me that there's a driver problem with the Wireless network adapter.
Just cant really figure out where this issue started.

According to network Connections in Windows 7, I have got the "Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Netword Connection".

My least favourite card...arrrgh...anyway, try uninstalling and re-installing the driver and see where that gets you.

Good luck.

Haha, okay. What's so bad about it?

Anyway, uninstalled the driver in the Network and sharing center. Reinstalled it with some files I found at the Lenovo website. Running perfect once again.

Thanks!
