NTLDR is missing

#1 Post by redrocker » Fri Aug 17, 2012 12:09 pm

Hello, I accidentally dropped my T60p from about 2 inches onto my desk. When I reboot, I am now getting NTLDR is missing.

Has my HDD crashed? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Lyle

Was it powered up and running when it dropped?

Yes, unfortunately!

I can not locate any of the CDs which came with the ThinkPad, as I have moved since I bought it. Do you think a recovery disc might assist? The blue ThinkPad button will not do any good, as I have tried it a few times.

Please advise,
Lyle

A recovery disk would wipe your HD, IF it can still access the dropped HD (unlikely).
Try putting it in a 2.5" SATA HD USB enclosure, connect that to a PC and try accessing data from there.
If that fails, consider it an expensive lesson learned (never to drop ANY drive...).
