FS: Sony Vaio X505 laptop (1.82 lbs!) $110 plus postage

#1 Post by pianowizard » Fri Aug 17, 2012 3:31 pm

After having fun with it for 5 months, I decided it's time to sell it. I love it, but I realized that this laptop has caused my Dell Latitude E4200 to be underused, and so I want to remedy this problem by selling the Sony. Detailed information is available on my Craigslist ad: http://annarbor.craigslist.org/sys/3278485078.html . For members of this forum, I would sell it for $10 less than the price stated on that ad, but you would have to pay for the actual postage. Please read the ad carefully because you must understand that the screen has some dark spots, which is why I am selling this for MUCH less than what the X505 or X505ZP typically sells for on eBay (e.g. http://www.ebay.com/itm/280946275475). Some reviews: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,1607091,00.asp

If you would like to buy this, please PM me with your zip code so I can give you a postage estimate. If you live in or near Ann Arbor, you are of course welcome to pick it up in person. Thanks.

Price dropped to $140 plus actual postage (probably ~$12).

Looks interesting..

Question, how long does a new battery last?

Thanks,
Ron

According to Sony's official specs, "2.0 - 4.0 hours", but the battery that it has right now is far from new and works for only like 1 hr 10 min. BTW, I failed to mention that if the Priority Mail box is big enough, I can also throw in a car charger that's supposed to work with this X505, though I have never tested it.

Re: FS: Sony Vaio X505 laptop (1.82 lbs!) $125 plus postage

Price dropped to $125! Grab this soon because at some point, I may just list it on eBay, where even X505's that don't come with an external optical drive routinely sells for over $200. It's one of the most remarkable and innovative laptops ever made. Despite its shortcomings (small RAM, small HDD, dark areas on the screen), it's still perfectly usable and its extreme light weight (FAR lighter than any Thinkpad) makes it a wonderful laptop to travel with. In fact I brought this laptop with me on my big trip to Europe and it served me well.
