Welcome to the forum!

What is the screen size of your T43? Full 7-character model number - 1875-???

Help us help you by providing this info. TIA.

This sounds like you bought either an SXGA+ (1400x1050) or UXGA (1600x1200) screen.
The T43 with Intel graphics (such as your 1875-machine) can only handle XGA (1024x768) screens.
Exception: some T43 and all R52 machines with 15" LCD and Intel graphics can also support SXGA+

You have a 14.1" T43 with Intel graphics. NO support for anything but XGA (1024x768).

OK...bad news and good news...

Bad news: nothing but XGA (as already stated by RBS) will work on that machine. You likely have a SXGA+ panel.

Good news is that I have a complete LCD assembly for a 14" XGA T43 if you're interested.

Might even consider a trade.

PM if interested.

Oh good Gods! Now I have three of the darn things. No more ebay for me till I sell some of this junk.

IBM THINKPAD T43 CENTRINO 1.7GHZ 1GB 14" SCREEN LAPTOP + WIFI
Model: T43
TYPE: 1871-CTO
Laptop powers up has password to bios
Screen appears good but don't know not tested.
Top cover has few scratches.
and
IBM Thinkpad T40p Laptop Intel Mobile 1.60 GHz 512 MB RAM No HD DVD-ROM/CD-RW
Model: T40p, Type 2373-G1U
Functionality:
Computer powers on and can boot into the BIOS.
All other functions are UNTESTED.

15 bucks each plus shipping so Im out 30 bucks for a screen that might be good from the t43 1871cto and I got the t40p for my daughter cause she thinks my thinkpad is cool (smart kid)

so according to this table from lenovo support the type 1871cto should work assuming i got a pc with a good screen for my 15 bucks

" LCD panel
XGA

1871-CTO, 1xx, 4xx, C1x, F1x
1872-CTO, 1xx, 4xx, C1x
1873-4Ax
1874-4Ax
1875-CTO, D1x, D2x, D6x, DKx, Dlx, E1x, E5x, F1x
2668-CTO, 1Ax, 1Bx, 1Cx, 1Dx, 1Fx, 3Fx, 3Gx, 3Hx, 3Jx, 3Nx, 3Px, 41x, 42x, 43x, 44x, 45x, 47x, 49x, 4Gx, 4Jx, 4Kx, 61x, 67x, 68x, 69x, 6Ax, 6Bx, 6Cx, 6Jx, 6Kx, 6Nx, 6Px, 6Ux, 6Vx, 6Wx, 6Xx, C5x, CKx, F2x, F3x, FLx, FMx
2669-CTO, 42x, 43x, 44x, 61x, 68x, 6Ax, C5x, C7x, CKx, CQx
2678-42x
2679-42x
2686-DFx, F2x, F3x, FLx, FMx, M4x
2687-DCx, DEx"
ok lesson learned ...research BEFORE purchase.
and yes I did look into unlocking the biospassword before I bought that t43 1871 cto.
Ill prolly never get around to trying that and the eeprom "kit" I found cost $80 so yeah...but it should have some good spare parts other than the screen.
Thanks for your help.

Problem is that T43 and T40 are of a different generation.
RAM, CPU and fan from the T43 will not fit/work in the T40p and v.v.
The T40p screen (SXGA+) will not work in the T43 (XGA) as you just found out, but v.v. is OK.
The rest is interchangeable.
