Is it possible?USB3 hdd "IN" t60?

#1 Post by garnet » Fri Aug 31, 2012 7:14 am

I have seen this page
http://www.quepublishing.com/articles/a ... 9&seqNum=8

which mentions usb3 ports.

Just a discussion here:
Do think it is possible to put and usb3 hdd in the ultra bay and somehow connect it to the MB through pci express slot via the card adapter?
It seems it can be done as an external disk, but what about as internal? Some cutting/soldering, flat cables etc, may be?
Do you see any benefit from that?
I have a 7200 200 GB in the pata-sata caddy and I dont get more than 30-35 Mbytes/s transfer.

Sure it'd be possible given sufficient soldering skill (and the ability to make your own cables), but it would be (IMHO) a massive waste of time, not to mention a great way to risk bricking your machine.
