x230 Weirdness w7 Pro

#1 Post by rsutoratosu » Fri Aug 31, 2012 2:00 pm

I seem to be having problem installing windows update on x230 only. Basically I found this out because I would do a shutdown, it'll install updates. When I boot it back up, I get. Failure configuring Windows Update, reverting changes, do not turn off your system. So basically it'll take me like 10 min to boot up the pc because it'll do a revert change and finish booting.

I thought I was going crazy, I just did another system restore and ran all the windows update. It will take 104 and do the install. Then I run it again, it'll have 28 left, and these are the ones that will fail. Basically since getting the system last week, this is my third system restore and confirmed that 28 of them will not install.

My next step is to do a W7 install off a oem cd and not use system restore.

Heres a list of fail updates... Theres more but im just too lazy to list them.

hi,

install this one: KB2647753 all by itself, nothing else selected in wu.
once done along with any required reboot, rerun wu and see if everything else installs successfully.

cheers.

sweet lord, how did you figure that out, tested once on existing build and I end up doing another restore to confirm. KB2647753 was indeed the problem.

Thanks !
