I've been hunting for a 17" and so far I've only got asus n76vz or the alienware m17x or asus g75vw. but none with the level of reliability and warranty coverage like thinkpads.

I agree with you. I'd like to see a reincarnated 17 inch Thinkpad. There is nothing like the solidity of these machines, as reflected in reliability surveys. I hope someone from Lenovo reads this forum!

15 inch machines can't replace these larger screen models.
