T43p hard drive failure when system heats up?
T43p hard drive failure when system heats up?
So I've got this T43p from the scrap pile at work and it turns on and boots up but if the system is left running for a few minutes and gets to full temp the hard drive no longer shows up. Any idea's I'm thinking a broken solder joint some where.

You're thinking correct.
The Southbridge chip has become unstuck (big Intel chip under the wifi card).
Either have it professionally reballed, or find another motherboard.

The main problem here is, that the nearest reliable reballer is in the UK (www.reflowrepairs.com)
And buying a used mobo on eBay is equivalent to Russian roulette, unless you know the seller and/or the history of that mobo.
Rock? Hard place?

If you're first name is Ian, I've just replied to you. if it's not then get back to me anyway and I see what we can do.
I've also suggested that you think about having us carry out the SATA mod at the same time as in RBS's post.
Good luck and I hope we can help you.
