#1 Post by DrHouse » Thu Sep 06, 2012 7:42 pm

What is the max CPU the T40 can accept? I know the max official speced T40 was 1.6Ghz but can it go higher then that? Just wondering cause possibly want to upgrade the current 1.5Ghz Pentium M inside but wont otherwise if the max will just be 1.6Ghz

The best that machine can take is Pentium M 765 Dothan, Intel SL7V3, 2.1GHz, 2 MB cache.
You'd be paying mega-bucks (like $75.- and up) for a rather oldie CPU...
More than the whole laptop is worth...

I have two T40 machines one with a 2.0 and the other with a 1.8. The 2.0 runs about 8 degrees C higher than the 1.8. Other than that I can't see much difference. Be careful with spending, as RBS has stated these machines aren't worth much.
