Microphone Problem

Hello!

I am having a problem with the internal mic. I have an external USB mic that I plug in for recording, yet it seems the only way it will work is if I disable the internal mic. Once I do this, my USB mic works and I can record. The problem I'm having is in order to listen to what I've recorded, I have to enable the internal mic once again.

This is becoming a pain to do every time. Aren't the speakers separate from the mic; and also, when I plug my USB mic in, it shows it as the default device, yet it isn't using it for some reason.
