T43p Fails to Turn Off

Hello all,

I am having a weird issue with my daughters T43p (2668H5U) 06/05.
We are currently running Win8 Release Preview on it.
The issue is when we select shut off from the power menu option it never really turns off. it sits in some idle state. After about 4-5 minutes we just hold the power button down until it does shut off. This seems to have no ill effect on the OS as we do not get the "WIndows was not shut down properly" error when starting up for the next session.

Do any of you know if this is a hardware issue? If not I'll repost in the Win8 section.

I'd presume you're having some type of an issue with a power manager driver or something along those lines.

Only briefly have I ran W8 on a T43 (with ATi graphics just like your T43p) and have encountered no such problem.

Try booting a "live" Linux CD and check whether the problem replicates itself.

Oddly enough I never got around to this as my daughter is only with me a few weekends a month and it is her machine (I may steal it, I love it). But I got it back today and what do you know. It's shutting down without issue. It may have been a Win8 hiccup.
If I can sell her on my T61 or an R61 that is for sale locally it'll be mine....ALL MINE!! followed by an evil laugh.
