What's a good wireless card for the X301?

#1 Post by stephenw » Sat Sep 08, 2012 9:24 pm

My X301 has an Intel 5100 wireless card. I have had numerous wireless problems with both Windows and Linux. I'm starting to suspect the card is the source of many of the problems. It seems when I google this that other people have had problems with the 5100 too. So can anyone please suggest what card would be a good replacement?

Has anyone replaced a wireless card in an X301 and had positive/negative outcomes?

Thanks a lot for your input!

Limited choices for whitelisted x301Wi-Fi cards (see #6):

Basically, Intel 5100 and 5300.

You could run a modded BIOS with the whitelist removed and have many more options. See, post #4192.

Later, I’ll reply to your other post about why I don’t think it’s entirely a problem with the card.

Thanks for the input. Well, the 5300 would probably not be an improvement, it seems like the problems are with various Intel cards in this series.
